1. Pensiunea Baciu - first branch with red dot

Baciu Pension is situated on the road from Toplita to the Batrana peak (1.634 mdm). It is theoretically marked with blue band. In reality the marking is very rare and old. The pension is located at the top end of the ski slopes of Toplita (Bradul and Magherus). From the top we have a view of the mountains opposite the Mures Valley. We can see peaks from Calimani Mountains.

We start going down the road and finally we see on the trunk of a tree a blue stripe and a red dot. The descent is light and easy. We are constantly scanning the pastures or the mountains on the horizon. A few houses appear. Red dot still leads down to Toplia, to the waterfall, but leaves the road in an unmarked place, on a path that changes direction half left through the forest. We continue on the blue band.

2. First red dot branch - Banffy Baths (second red dot branch)

We admire Toplita and the Mures Valley from a lower and lower altitude. After a slightly steeper slope, an area with relays, we reach the cottage campsite. Immediately we are at Banffy Baths.

3. Banffy Baths (second branch with red dot) - Toplița mesothermal waterfall

The Banffy Ball we're back on the mark red dot. We turn right and we soon arrive in Muresului Valley, where we turn sharply up to the road on the river bank, next to the railway, which leads us in a few hundred meters to the Mezotermala Toplita Waterfall. I got off in 35 minutes from Baciu Pension, but we went fast.

4. Toplița mesothermal waterfall

Toplița mesothermal waterfall is a symphony of drops. It's one of two thermal waterfalls in Romania and one of the few in the world. I visited it in February and its water was not exactly warm. The spring of the meadow that cascades its mossy waterfall is at Banffy Baths. At the waterfall there are explanatory panels showing the specific flora developed around the unusual waterfall.

5. Toplița mesothermal waterfall - Baciu Pension

We climb back up the same route. This time we're facing Gurghiu Mountainstowards the summit of Batrana. In the upper part of the route appears the Alpin Coaster route from the hostel. Here we finish the tour. The marked trail to Batrana continues on the path (cart road) ahead, uphill. 45 minutes we made it uphill, but we pulled very hard.
