About hiking

This circuit has been much publicized and visited in recent years. The picturesque village of Rimetea has attracted tourists not only for its traditional houses and Ethnographic Museumbut also for hiking in the surroundings, in Piatra Secuiului, Trascăului Fangs, Grota Studenților, Trascău Fortress or Vălișoarei Gorges, all in the Trascău Mountains, which dominate the valley with their steep cliffs. The route is marked, up on the slightly scarce plateau. The climb is more difficult, but with patience and willpower you reach the plateau and the effort pays off.

1. Rimetea (525 m) - Rimetea Mountain Rescue (550 m) - branch (570 m) - saddle (1065 m) - Piatra Secuiului Peak (1129 m)

1 hr 45 min / 2.5 km / 2.5 km / difficult / blue cross

We start at the intersection of Kis and Alsó Kővár streets, where there are also signs for trails and springs. We quickly pass the last houses of the village of Rimetea and in 5 minutes we pass the Rimetea mountain rescue point on the left side. In an area still quite flat and grassy, 10 minutes after the start we find the signpost and branch off to the right to Grota Studenților. When we reach the base of the cliffs, the path becomes rocky and winds uphill through a sparse forest. We travel along the path through a small gully. A trickle of water trickles down the path. To the left of the path, at the top of the cliff, is the spring. We slowly emerge from the cliffs and climb up a dirt path formed in the alpine meadow, in steps. The slope is about 45 degrees incline. At the top, in the saddle, is the signpost again. From here we climb another 10 minutes to the right to the summit.

2. Piatra Secuiului Peak (1129 mdm)

On the top of Piatra Secuiului there are 2 stone markers, overturned, painted either in the colors of the Romanian troclor, or in those of the Hungarian tricolor. We have come to admire the panorama which shows us the village of Rimetea at the foot of the mountain, and to the left we clearly identify the village of Colțești and, higher up, to the right, the Trascăului Fortress. Incidentally, the waymark we agreed on continues towards Colțești. Pictures, break, snack,

3. Piatra Secuiului Peak (1129 m) - Colții Trascăului (1113 m)

45 min / 1.3 km / easy / blue cross, red lane, unmarked

This is the segment that runs along the ridge and connects the viewpoints on the ridge. First we return to the saddle we came up. Continue straight ahead to a trail junction and a stone cross, also evidence of the battle of the tricolor colors. 15 minutes from the summit. From here a trail leads to Cheile Turzii. We take the red lane to another intersection and 10 minutes from the cross. On the plateau we find edible mushrooms, which connoisseurs pick. We take this fork and follow the unmarked path in the same direction through the alpine meadow. To the left you can reach a new viewpoint, and then continue up to the top of the Colții Trascăului.

4. Trascăului Peak (1113 mdm)

The summit of Colții Trascăului is not marked with a marker or signpost. But it is a nice viewpoint, where there is a small grotto with 2 mouths, one vertical and the other horizontal, towards the steep. Another break. Joy and relaxation. And mushrooms. We sit on the grass and point. You can see the village of Rimetea and the village of Colțești. Behind the village of Rimetea, the ridge is clearly visible in the background Belioara StaetteAnother route not to be missed. Pictures, break, snack, mushroom picking. joy, relaxation.

5. Colții Trascăului (1113 m) - Rimetea (525 m)

1-1.5 hours (with breaks) / 4 km / easy / unmarked, red lane

The descent from Colții Trascăului will be done by another route. We return to the signpost mentioned earlier, enjoying the beautiful weather and the coolness of the mountain. At the intersection turn left on the red lane. The path enters the forest and descends continuously. About 10 minutes after entering the marked trail, two arrows and two markers are visible on a tree. Here a branch is signposted, which also descends near the village of Rimetea. We stay on the red lane, which bypasses the mountain and reaches the heavily grassed meadow where the Rimetea villagers graze their animals. An isolated rock formation catches the eye: the Small Stone. We enter the village of Rimetea along the Alsó Kővár lane, where on the right-hand side of the street there is a sought-after spring with a good flow, the Cigány Spring. We close the circuit with a short visit to the Water Mill, located just near the end point.
