Queen's Beach, Nin, Croatia

Kraljičina Plaža - one of the few sandy beaches in Croatia

Where is it, when can you visit, how much does it cost?

Nin is located in Croatia, 17 km from Zadar on the Adriatic coast. In Nin there are several signposts to Kraljičina Plaža - Queen's Beach. From one of the more important streets, Put Grgura Ninskog, you turn towards the sea on Put Venere Anzotike Street and continue to the parking fee point, where you pay 7 Eur, to go 200 meters further on to park on a large stretch of land shaded by a few pine trees. On the beach, renting an umbrella with 2 sun loungers costs 20 Eur.

About Regina Beach

At the entrance to the beach there is a sign reading "I am the Queen" and an explanation of Sand-couch Grass, a sandy grass that grows on this sandy, salty, sandy beach on the Adriatic Sea. The beach is a sandy one, with a smooth entry into the water, umbrellas and sun loungers for hire, but you can also spread out your own sheet, towel, open umbrella or personal tent.

1. The mud puddle

After the information board in the parking lot, you enter a wooden bridge across a puddle. You can also cross through the water, the water does not go over your knee. This puddle has salt water and on the opposite side of the bridge there is mud at the bottom. Many tourists there anoint themselves with mud for therapeutic purposes or simply because they want to.

2. Beach and sea

Queens Beach is the widest sandy beach in the area. What's more, the entrance to the water is smooth and you can go about 50 meters out to sea and the water doesn't go past your chest. In front, about 200 meters is a peninsula with a beach, accessible by land on the other side. Between the 2 banks is a lane for small boats and water sports. I have seen daredevils crossing from one shore to the other. There's also sand on the seabed. At the edge of the beach, in the area where it narrows is an Aqua Park and bar.

3. Natura 2000 site

Towards the north, the beach continues, narrowing and sandy, but there are also pebbles both on the shore and especially in the water. Special shoes are recommended. The beach delimits the sea from a protected area with reed vegetation, called Natura 2000, where an endemic plant grows. On the far shore, opposite but visible, rise the limestone mountains of the Paklenica Park, around 1700m high. The scenery is superb!
