The first museum in Târgu Secuiesc was founded in the interwar period by the lawyer Dienes Ödön. In 1941, the museum was closed. In 1969, a new museum was established on the initiative of the County Committee of Culture in the Turóczi house. History teacher Incze Laszló enriched the museum. However, the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1427 it was elevated to the status of a city by King Sigismund of Luxembourg. The town prospered during the Principality of Transylvania. Since 1764, the Three Seats Land has been under dual administration, by the Szekler and military authorities. Between 1841-1846, Târgu Secuiesc was a royal free town. Târgu Secuiesc is characterized by its courtyards built around the central square. The craftsman's house was built in the street, then the other houses were built in the narrow, elongated courtyard. There are 70 courtyards in the town.
