Let's admire the Infinity Column!
Infinity Column consists of 15 modules and 2 semi-modules, made of cast iron. The modules have equal dimensions 180x90x45 cm. The column is 29.33 meters high. The prototype for the modules was made by Brâncuși in Petroșani, in August 1937, in lime wood. The technical conception and realization of the work was by the engineer Ștefan Georgescu-Gorjan. The modules were drawn on a steel pole, cast in a concrete foundation. The modules are being built under the supervision of Brâncuși. The work was inaugurated on October 27, 1938.
About his own work, the sculptor says The Endless Column is like an eternal song that carries us into infinity, beyond all artificial pain and joy.
