Metropolitan Cathedral The Orthodox Church of Cluj-Napoca is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built between 1923-1933 in neo-Byzantine style with Romanian architectural elements. Its architects are Constantin Pomponiu and Georges Cristinel. 1. Statue of Avram Iancu and the Cathedral

The Orthodox Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral is located next to a well-known Cluj landmark, statue of Avram Iancu. Above the pronaos of the cathedral are two towers, and above the nave is a drum supported by columns, topped with a large dome.

2. Inside

The interior is massive, majestic. The large candelabra in the nave was given by King Charles II, and the small one in the pronaos by Patriarch Miron Cristea. The sculpted iconostasis is covered in silver leaf and is decorated with Brancovenetian motifs by the sculptor Moise Șchiopu, after a design by the painter George Russu. The interior is in need of renovation, the walls and most of the paintings are smoked.
