Where, when, how much?

Union Hall in Alba Iulia is located in Alba Carolina Citadel, on Museum Street. There are several paid parking lots in the adjacent streets. It can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm from May to August. Otherwise it closes at 5pm and is closed on Tuesdays from January to February. A full admission ticket costs €15. There are also free admission, reduced tickets and integrated tickets for visiting several museums.

About the Union Hall in Alba Iulia

The building that houses Union Hall was built in 1900. Festivities organized by the Austro-Hungarian army were held here. In 1918, the Grand National Assembly decreed the Resolution of Unification here, and a few years later organized the coronation ceremony of the royal family. In front of the Union Hall are the busts of prominent people of 1918.

Union Hall is steeped in history, the Hall is very spacious, has vaulted arches, is clad in red marble and has a monumental arched portal at the entrance. In the archway is an inscription recalling the historic moment of 1 December 1918, which was organized here by the Great National Assembly with over 1200 participants. The central hall is dedicated to this historic moment.

2. The Union Resolution

On the inner walls of the Union Hall are engraved the historical documents of the moment of the Union. The Unification Resolution is the document read by Vasile Goldiș at 12 noon on December 1, in the plenary session of the Great National Assembly, and which was unanimously passed.

3. Documents about the Union

In Aurel Lazăr's office, the Declaration of Self-Determination of the Romanians of Transylvania was drafted on October 12, 1918, which was read 6 days later by Alexandru Vaida-Voevod in the Parliament of Budapest, preparing the historic moment of December 1, 1918.

4. Art exhibition

There is a temporary art exhibition in the basement of the Union Hall.

5. Royal family coronation

One area of the museum is set up to show the movie of the Unification and exhibits the Coronation of King Ferdinand I and Queen Marie, whose busts are in the entrance hall.
