Saschiz Peasant Fortress is located on the hill that borders Saschiz, Mures County, to the west. On the main artery of the town, on the DN13, there is a signpost guiding you to the citadel. There are also several hiking trails going up to the fortress, including the Via Transilvanica, which passes by it. The road is paved to the free parking on the hill, 500 meters below the citadel. The last stretch continues uphill on foot, winding partly through forest. The fortress can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday between 10am-5pm. The last entry is 30 minutes before closing time. The full ticket costs RON 15, concessions RON 10.
Saschiz Peasant Fortress was built on the hill overlooking the village, on a strategic defense position. It was built by the Saxons in the 14th century. The walls are 10 meters high and 2 meters thick. The fortress sheltered the inhabitants of Saschiz, Sighișoara, Cloașterf and other villages in times of danger.

The Gate Tower is considered the gatekeeper of the fortress, being the first and last bastion of the fortress. It is also called the Bacon Tower because it was here that the Saxon's bacon supplies were stored. The tower has 3 storeys and is equipped with iron latticework on sliding ditches (Fallgitter).

The Priest's Tower is the sanctuary of faith and hope. It has three stories. Refugee village priests used to live here.
The Watchtower is a symbol of community defense and vigilance. The watchman who kept the area safe lived here. The wooden balcony overlooks the entire valley and is a good vantage point. The watchman used signaling instruments such as drums, bells and trumpets.

The school tower is a guardian of time, guarding the past for future generations. It is one of the towers built in the 14th century along the enclosure wall.
The Prince's Tower is the royal refuge and legend of power. Behind it is a deep ravine. And this was built as early as the 14th century. It was the safest place in the fortress. It hosted a meeting of the Transylvanian Diet in 1662.
