1. Beach in Gümbet

The beach of Guembet is 5 km from Bodrum which can be reached by car in about 15 minutes, depending on the crowds. There are also minibuses running regularly on this route. Parking is at the junction of Zengin Hueseyin St. and Yarbay Sabri Ergueden St., both one-way. Free. In the shade.

Guembet is located in the first bay after Bodrum west of the city. In the distance you can see islands in the distance, including the island of Kos situated at about 25 km and to which crossings were organized. Schooners with tourists anchored offshore. On the left side of the U-shape of the bay anchored boats.

Beach in Guembet would become our favorite beach where we came most often. Its assets from our point of view are quite fine sand (it seems to be brought, I don't think it is “native from Guembet”), a smooth entrance in the water, a mini bazaar with bargain prices, umbrellas, tables and sun beds with mattress and pillows, free if you buy your food at the place behind the sun beds The Beach House, where meals could be served, clothes and toy shops nearby.

Other remarks perhaps relevant to other beach seekers here. On the first half a meter as you enter the water there were pebbles here and there, 100 meters from us a lane from where various boats and more or less flying objects pulled by salupe, also there, a private beach with armchairs where the bashtanis were shooting hookahs, about 200 meters to the parking lot. On the hill to the left of the bay you can see the ruins of the windmills described in the Bodrum article

2. Other beaches

Situated 800 meters from our hotel, with access from Pasatarlasi Street, and the only public beach in Bodrum is Kumbahce Halk Plaj. Here you pay no tax, no sezlong, nothing.

The beach is 10 meters wide and about 100 meters long. You can find white plastic sun loungers as we do at the seaside, with adjustable backrest in 3 positions, simple umbrellas with a woven wicker roof.

The beach is rather small pebble beach, and the entrance to the water is steep, in a few meters it goes over your head. Kumbahce beach is next to the small harbor. There are no bars and taverns attached to the beach.

Beach in Bitez

Bitez is in the second bay west of Bodrum. The distance from Bodum is 8 km and traveling time ca. 30 minutes. I recommend parking at the side of the Ambrosia Hotel, where the road parallel to the seafront makes an S. It is free, but this time in the sun and next to a canal full of garbage.

From this point begins the cliff on which are inserted the different halves of private beaches. Most of them belong to hotels which are on the other side of the beach and which have restaurant terraces on the seafront.

Yes beach in Bitez is ok. This confers the advantage that you can eat and drink at the horse's nose. For sunbeds if you negotiate you get free “seating” if you make consumption. If you don't insist a little for the joy of your pocket, you pay 100 TL 4 pieces, equivalent to 66 RON. The sun beds have mattresses and pillows here too.

The water here is also a little deep at the shore. There were a few pebbles here as well at the first 2 steps as you enter the water. At 15 meters from the shore, there are some swings above the sea. At about 50 meters from the shore where the water is 1,5 meters deep you can climb on a platform made of floating plastic elements where you can jump from because the water slowly but surely gets deeper.

At sea, the same boats with or without sail, fast or not and about the same possibilities for sea trips.

Beach in Gümüslük

Guemuesluek is located at the western end of the Bodrum peninsula, 25 km west of the town, which can be reached in 45 minutes. Turgutreis.

From the main access road, several side streets lead down to the waterfront which offer numerous parking lots, most of them free of charge.

The pedestrian street winding along the seafront delimits the narrow beach from a few houses or parking lots. There are no shops here at all.

The beach is rockier and the water is deep. At the end of the cliff in the bay there are many boats, some of them small. There's not much to eat and drink nearby either. There are sunbeds with umbrellas on the sand.
