Snail Hill is located on the administrative territory of the village of Lunca Bisericii, Vidra commune, Alba county, right on the DJ762. From Alba Iulia it is 97 km (97 km by road), which can be covered in 2 hours via DN74, DN74A and DJ762. This tourist attraction is in an open space, in nature, and can be visited non-stop. At 100 meters away, on the opposite side of the road, there is a large paid parking lot, which is also used for access to the Pișoaia Waterfall. There are also several food kiosks.

About Snail Hill

Snail Hill  is a paleontological reserve. Here there is a rich fossiliferous point with gastropods from the Upper Cretaceous period. This geological uniqueness is 65-70 million years old. The protected area covers 0.6 hectares.

Snail Hill

In a rock, actually a conglomerate outcrop, there are 35 species of mollusc, the most common being Acteonella gigantea, encrusted in a rock right next to the road, so the fossils can be seen up close. This should have been professionally preserved.
