Access

Monastery of Șinca Noua is located in the locality of Șinca Nouă, 9 km from Șinca Veche, on DN73A, towards Zărnești. From Brașov to the monastery there are 60 km by road via DN73 and then DN73A. In the locality of Șinca Nouă, at a bridge, a signpost directs us to the monastery or Schitul Șinca Nouă. Cross the river, turn left. From this point to the Sinca Noua Monastery there are 4.2 km on a forest road through a wild area, apparently forgotten by the world. Along the way we will meet several signposts at points where the road forks so there is no way to get lost. In fact, on the way there are two spectacular branches to the left to two viaducts: Ilii Bridge and Black Bridge, to Ilii Bridge we were even curious to do a 10 minutes walk at walking pace.

About Șinca Noua Monastery

Monastery of Șinca Noua was established in 2009, through the efforts and contributions of the villagers, on the site of an older monastic church. Archaeological excavations have revealed the walls of the former monastery church, dating from the 17th-18th centuries.

1. Buildings in the monastery complex

The monastery has two main bodies of buildings, which at first glance do not look like a church settlement. The main building houses the monks who live here and the chapel (church). Another smaller building is the loon (i.e. the church store). Another building appeared, a new church and not yet in use, which it wasn't on the previous two visits.

2. Church or chapel

The church is as simple as it is impressive. Decorated with icons and ecclesiastical paintings, it had placed in the two parts of the church, the two sides of the church were decorated with (part of) relics of St. Nectarios yes relics of St. Anastasia Romana. The hermitage is dedicated "Sunday of All Saints" and was founded at the initiative of Dumitru Flocus, the mayor of Sinca Noua, the parish priest Sorin Suciu, but also the faithful of the parish. We were to learn that the whole community of Sinca Noua is very faithful and close to the church.

Here at Sinca Noua Hermitage there are also epitrahil of Father Arsenie Boca, proof of the passage of Fr. Arsenios in this place. The epitrahil is the most important liturgical vestment, worn by the priest and bishop during Mass, in the form of a scarf whose ends hang down on the chest. Arsenie Boca is officially, by a decision of the Local Council, the patron saint of Sinca Noua since 2012.

For those who wish to visit a special hermitage, inhabited by a host of monks with grace, isolated and somewhat difficult to reach, I recommend Monastery of Șinca Noua. Even if it's not very well known, this place is highly appreciated by those who have come here.
