Where and when?

Olt County Museum located in Slatina on Ana Ipatescu Street 1, is accessible from Eugen Ionesco Park. On weekdays it is open from 10-18, on weekends from 9-17.

About Olt County Museum

After World War I, several intellectuals collected information and exhibits worthy of a museum. Lawyer Ion Florescu was the leader of this initiative. The museum, initially named Slatina Raional Museum, was opened in 1952 under the direction of Prof. Ion Morosanu. The initial patrimony of the museum consisted of the donation of the lawyer Florescu, but also of Neolithic finds from the area exhibited here. In 1970 the ethnography section was born, then the collections multiplied.

1. Museum building

The yellow building, which houses the Olt County Museum, a one-story palace, still bears the inscription Administrative Palace on the frontispiece.

We admire Donatia Ion Popescu-Negreni, Donatia Vergulescu and Donatia Nicolae Truta. No photography or filming of painted works is allowed. Then we turn the pages of history.

4. Slatina between the Middle Ages and modernity

An ingenious idea was to render the image of the commercial area of the city with the craftsmen's pravaliile: Lipscani Street.

5. Modern and contemporary Slatina

Strabatem Modern and contemporary Slatina where the image of the bridge over the Olt, as well as the famous shop of the Albanian Athlete - a family business that has been going on in Slatina for 300 years and where today they produce homemade ice cream, braga, citronade, rahat, all delicious. We also see some old interiors well showcased, as well as a real treasure trove of Dacian gold products, including a superb bracelet. We also see Vadastra pottery and coins from Romula.

6. Temporary exhibitions

Another set of rooms presents Oltenesti carpets and folk costumes from the three sub-regions of Oltenia.
