Garden of the Fairies is located 10 km from Jibou, on the DN1G, in Gâlgău Almașului. DN1G connects Huedin to Jibou. On the road you will notice the sign that leads you to the "horse's nose", in a free parking lot, from where you can take a short walk in the reserve. Other kilometer landmarks: 33 km from Zalău which can be covered in 45 minutes by car, 70 km from Cluj-Napoca, 80 km from Baia Mare.
There is no admission fee and no opening hours.
In the reserve The Garden of the Zmeilors we encounter several spectacular geological formations from the Holocene period. They are in fact gray sandstones with a hint of yellow embedded in microconglomerates. The creator is Mother Nature, water and air. Freezing and thawing, wind, temperature changes, rain, dripping, natural washing, and even landslides have all contributed to this wonder.
Access is easy. From the parking lot you follow the clear path to the cliffs that are visible through the tall vegetation of trees and shrubs. I was glad that since my penultimate visit here there is a circuit marked with a red dot, a loop, which I invite you to follow in the direction shown on the map inserted under the link in this paragraph.
We're heading first towards The Captain and the SoldiersI like the combination of the rocks. This path first takes you to a higher level where you can admire the spectacular towers from above. The trail is landscaped and neat and clean.
Those who want can return the same way at the base of the cliffs. I recommend that you follow the loop I described.

The route is a loop and is marked with a red dot.It's easy, 2 km long and takes 45 minutes.
Attention! At the far end of the oval loop you go down about 10 meters very steeply into a talveg, in a false bottom of a parau. Yes, that's the way. With care, choosing stable holds, using the roots, you can pass this obstacle in 2 minutes. Then you approach the base of the rocky butte.

The geological formations of The Garden of the Zmeilors are named after the likenesses they have been given: The Silly Girl, The Gnome and the Gnome-Girl, Santa, The Monks, The Captain, Cleopatra's Needle, The Soldiers, Eve, The Hunchback, The Little Thumb, The Little Thumb, The Sphinx.
Only from this list you realize that there are some strange "rocks" to visit and admire.

Garden of the Fairies is a spectacular and little known place. It is an excellently preserved nature reserve and very easy to visit. If you are in Salaj county, don't hesitate to visit the Zmeilor Garden.
