Tourist guide Pucioasa, Dâmbovița

1. Pucioasa Park

Pucioasa Park connects two parallel main arteries, Republicii street and DN71 in front of the Petrom station. At the Republicii entrance opposite the Tourist Information Center (closed on Saturday!) is a monument.

The park is a mini-forest, the shade of the trees covers practically all its paths. In the middle of the park is a brass band gazebo and the entrance to the Open-air wood carving museum. Here we sat for several minutes on a bench and read about the city.

Children have a playground and bicycles and other vehicles to rent. A quiet park that we liked for that very reason. Trash cans are only on the main driveway.

2. Monument

We return on the Republic towards the center and at the only roundabout in the city, on a corner we meet another park, a much smaller one. And here we find monument erected in honor of World War I heroes and flanked by two cannons. In the same roundabout, diagonally to the parking lot, we read a huge sign mentioning the existence of the Dumitru Prunariu Museum in the Children's Circle on an adjacent street, but which is also closed on Saturdays! If the pizzeria is also closed on Sundays, you can imagine that Pucioasa is quite dull and inactive.

I liked that in the city there are more pictures of Pucioasa of the past, which looks better than Pucioasa of today! Besides, the town looks much worse than the villages around it and it is invaded by second hand shops, an expression of the buying power in the area.

3. Museum of Ethnography

Museum of Ethnography is also on Republicii Street in the central area of the city. We liked the wide upstairs porch adorned with flowers and the construction built on wooden stilts, as we had to photograph several old houses in the city. It is visited daily from 9am to 5pm, but we also heard of the gloomy prospect that it might close.

The museographer did not give us any information about the museum, there is no guide. Quite a few exhibits we could see among which folk harbors, dung heaps, barrels, lanterns, wooden garters, pikes, wooden building poles, pottery. Modest and sad.
