About Кладово (Cladova)

44° 36′ N, 22° 37′ E is the latitude and longitude location of the Serbian town on the globe. Kladovo / Кладово / Cladovă is located in the Bor region of eastern Serbia. The Danube washes its cliffs, and the Romanians of Drobeta Turnu Severin can see it every day just by looking across the width of the Danube. Kladovo has a population of 10 000.

A bit of history

Kladovo has ancient roots. During the Roman Empire it was called Zanesduring the Slav invasion Novi Grad (Нови Град)and later the Turks built the fortification here Fetislam. Name Kladovo appeared in the 16th century on Austro-Hungarian maps. The town developed from a village to a town with the great Romanian-Serbian engineering achievement, Iron Gates I hydropower plant or Đerdap (Djerdap)in Serbian. 1. Danube

I'd say the only loco attraction is Danube that invites you for a ride and I'll take you for a ride on its waves. For this you can call the boat Đerdap (Djerdap). You can contact the hotel Đerdap (Djerdap) where the boat is moored. It organizes trips on the Danube to the island of Shimian Island in a 2-hour trip. Meals can be served on the boat. The ride is a recommended one offering beautiful views of both banks of the Danube, including the medieval fortress of Severin. Without being grumpy, in the visual spectrum you will also see tons of rust.

2. St. George Serbian Orthodox Church

St. George Serbian Orthodox Church is located at the first intersection as you enter the city from Iron Gates I. You cannot miss its white, tall, slender silhouette. The church was built in 1856. It has a large courtyard with green spaces and landscaped walkways.

3. Parks, walking areas

As you enter Kladovo from Iron Gates I, there are green spaces on both sides of the road. On the left is the Danube, on the right is a park, quiet and sparsely populated with children, with playgrounds and two lakes. Between them is a gym. Another park is more in the center of the little town.

The main promenade is cliffwhich stretches along the banks of the Danube. It is landscaped, cars have no access. There is also a small beach in one place. The alley is lit in the evening and the benches or the parapet of the landscaped and concreted Danube bank invite you to sit down and admire the Danube and the ships that "swim" in it, invite you to rest, to hide away in a micro-world with your lover.

Another pedestrian area opens on the street perpendicular to the roundabout on the already mentioned entrance road. Here you will find many restaurants with terraces, cafes, shops - mostly second hand. Quite a bit of bustle here for a sunny weekend morning.
