1. St. Peter's Castle
St. Peter's Castle is one of the most important symbols of the city Bodrum, dominating the harbor with its imposing silhouette. Built in the 15th century by the Ioannite Knights, the castle originally had a defensive role, protecting the area from maritime invasions.
Made of stone and including materials from Mausoleum of Halicarnas, The castle impresses with its medieval architecture and towers dedicated to different European nations.
Today, the castle is home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, one of the most important of its kind in the world, where you can admire ancient shipwrecks, amphorae and artifacts discovered in the Aegean Sea. Visitors can wander through the inner courtyards, exhibition halls and climb the towers for spectacular views of the city and the sea.
