4. Under the Dog's Foot Peak (1645 m) - Dog's Foot Ridge - Dog's Foot Hut (1000 m)
2 hours / 5 km / blue point / medium
We thus enter The Dog's Foot, a long unpadded ridge, the longest mountain leg that descends from east to west towards Sinaia. From it we say goodbye to the Baiul Mare Peak and its western grohtiosurile. Both on the left and on the right side of the foot there is a hut, the one on the left being a big one, well visible from the path blue dot down which we descend. The marking gets better and better. If we look up we can see under the white cloud in the valley the roofs of the city Sinaia, and in the background the Prahovean (eastern) cliffs of the Buceg Mountains.
Cainelui's Peak loses altitude and near the forest gives us the pleasure of walking on a carpet of needles of larch from the only conifers that are losing their leaves. After 1 hour from the branch, we enter the forest first mixed, then deciduous. The path is completely covered with rusty leaves, but we can't miss the trail as we are now on the best marked segment of it. Too bad that where more markings were really needed, they were missing, an impediment that becomes serious in dense fog. The last few kilometers of descent are quite steep and demand everyone's brakes.
In this second part of the day we met many more tourists than in the first, a sign that the route Sinaia - Piscul Cainelui - Baiului Mare is practiced by many round trip. In particular because of this piece of road I recommend to follow the route in the loop described by me, thus avoiding a difficult climb, heavy at the beginning and quite long. If you do this route uphill, add about 1 hour to the time I have spent.
