George Enescu Memorial Museum in Dorohoi
The Memorial Museum is housed in the house of Costache Enescu, the composer's father, George Enescu lived between 1881-1955 and lived in this 19th century house for 9 years. The house has 6 exhibition rooms.
The museum's collection presents objects that belonged to the composer: pieces of furniture, piano, violins, scores, manuscripts, photographs and photocopies, original letters, books, paintings, casts of his hands, his death mask, clothing, posters, awards.
A gracious lady museographer invites you into the world of George Enescu, highlighting the great Romanian composer's evolution. At the age of 7, George Enescu started studying at Vienna Conservatory. He was admitted as a child prodigy, the youngest student at the institution at the time. He studied there between 1888 and 1894He quickly distinguished himself by his exceptional talent for violin and composition.
