Roman Catholic Cathedral of Alba Iulia is located inside the Alba Carolina Citadel, at 21 Mihai Viteazul Street, between the Fourth Gate, the Orthodox Cathedral of the Coronation, the Roman-Catholic Archdiocese, the Palace of the Princes of Transylvania and the Statue of Mihai Viteazul. Admission is free daily from 9am to 7pm.

It is the most valuable monument of Romanesque and Gothic architecture in Transylvania, is the oldest and the longest cathedral in Romania. The construction of the cathedral began in 1004, when King Stephen of Hungary founded the Bishopric of Transylvania.

The architectural style is Romanesque and Gothic.Above the main entrance is the organ, and above it is the open altar, specific to the Roman-Catholic cult: Iancu de Hunedoara, governor of Hungary, Queen Izabella, King John Sigismund, the first prince of Transylvania, Márton Áron, Bethlen Gábor and others.
