Fire Tower in Cluj-Napoca hosts the Urban Culture Center and is located at 17 Tipografiei Street. It is open daily from 10am to 8pm, and on Thursdays until 10pm; admission is free.

About the Fire Tower

Fire Tower in Cluj-Napoca is an emblematic landmark of Cluj-Napoca. The Firemen's Tower is part of the second fortified enclosure of the city, built in the 15th century.It was originally called the Weavers' Tower, being maintained and defended by the weavers' guild. In the 16th century the first information about its function as a fire watchtower appears. The tower is illuminated at night either in the colors of the Romanian or Hungarian flags.

1. Panorama

In Fire Tower you can take the elevator or the staircase to the top platform, where you can find the model of Cluj-Napoca and admire the panorama of the city. The Orthodox Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral, St. Michael's Roman-Catholic Cathedral, Mihai Viteazul Square in the immediate vicinity of the tower, Cetățuia Hill and the city's neighborhoods stand out. I recommend visiting the tower in the evening to enjoy the illuminated city.

2. Urban Culture Center

The Centre for Urban Culture organizes several cultural events in Cluj-Napoca. In the Firemen's Tower there is a photography exhibition, an exhibition of portraits, old pictures of the city and the tower on the stairs and on the floors.
