The crystalline sounds of Zadar

Where is it, when to visit, how much does it cost?

Sea Organ is a popular tourist attraction in Zadar. It is located on the Adriatic seafront, on the peninsula of Zadar. The place is neighbor to another famous sight, The Greeting to the Sun. You can visit anytime, but the peak time is at sunset. It's a free and unlimited access. On maps and road navigators you'll find it as Sea Organ.

About the Sea Organ

Sea Organ (in Croatian Morske orgulje) is an experimental musical instrument whose sounds are produced by the movement of the sea waves beneath large stone slabs. Nikola Bašić is the architect of the work, which opened in 2005.

1. Sea Organ

At the Sea Organ, steps to the sea have also been built where people can sit and listen to the bizarre sounds. Under the stairs, below sea level, a system of 35 plastic tubes of different lengths and diameters and resonance boxes is mounted. The work was awarded the European Prize for Urban Public Space.
