Sunrises from Mount Athos

Location

Tailors is located in the northern mainland of Greece in Sithoniain the administrative sub-unit Halkidiki in the region North Macedonia. Sithonia is one of 3 parallel peninsulas stretching 50 km in Aegean Sea; namely the middle one. To Skopje is less than 400 km, to Sofia 450 km, to Tirana 600 km, to Istanbul 700 km, to Athens in the Greek capital also 700 km, and to Bucharest 900 km, a distance that can be covered in 11-12 hours by road. 30 km east of Sarti, as the crow flies, you can see the majestic Mount Athos (2.033 mdm), located on the neighboring peninsula.

About Sarti

Tailors is a small/medium resort, appreciated for its beaches and outlook towards Mount Athos. Sarti is the name of the ancient city that once stood here and where a new settlement was built along the beaches. The beach of Sarti is 3 km long and has Blue Flag, a guarantee for the quality of the sandy beaches. There is no shortage of tavernas. There are also some water sports that can be practiced. The resort is favored by families.

1. Sunrise

We start our morning walk. And how better to start than with the sunrise? Sunrise at Sarti is at 7 o'clock in September, because the sun rises from behind Mount Athos. The landscapes are no comment.

2. The South

I will describe the resort from South to North. There is a southern vantage point located on the road that turns the peninsula. It is a little visited place. In the foreground is Platania Beach, a favorite spot for camper tourists. In the distance you can see the expanse of the Sarti beach. The next beach is called Sandra & Garry and then comes Arch. In between, you can only walk on the road a little further up the shore. There are beekeepers in the area. Between these beaches, on the seafront, are spectacular cliffs, some accessible.

3. Beach

From here northwards you can walk 2.9 km along the shore. In the south, there are beaches with fine sand and a smooth entry into the water. Some are equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, others without. We liked Blue Senses where there is a beach with a beach bar. You can sit on the comfortable sun loungers with thick mattresses if you buy a drink at the bar. In the afternoon we ate at the beach taverna, where we were extremely satisfied. More accommodation is starting to appear in the area. After crossing a canal, towards the middle of the locality there are several sports fields: soccer, volleyball, basketball.

4. Center

From here on, the beach has a less fine sand, without being pebbly, and in which you can easily sink. The water depth at the shore increases as you approach the northern end. In the center is Sartis Beach. From this place the resort is lined with 2-3 streets parallel to the shore. It is an area with many accommodation facilities. There are supermarkets and some tavernas. In the center of Sarti resort there is a larger square parking lot, next to which there is a minicab station that takes children accompanied by adults every evening. A playground for toddlers is located next to the "Love Sarti" post attraction.

5. North

We enter the northern half. The beach gets narrower, more sloping and the entrance is steeper. There are sunbeds. From here 3 streets run parallel to the sea. On the first there are tavernas and gardens, on the next there are souvenir shops, but also a few other places to dine, or sweets, ice creams, pastries. Supermarkets have a rich and varied assortment.

6. Stavros

The 3 km of continuous beach ends with some cliffs, above which is another very popular place for those who walk at sunset in Sarti. This is the northern viewpoint, where benches are arranged. 100 meters above is another point visited in the evening, marked with a cross. Further north are two more small beaches and the harbor.

7. Fun zone

We return along the streets of the sloping village at the northern end, where the ancient city is. We quickly enter a flat area between taverns and shops and return to the center, choosing an intermediate stop as we please.

Why Sarti?

In Tailors It is worth spending a relaxing summer vacation by the Aegean Sea. You can enjoy superb sunrises, which happen later than usual, as the sun rises from Mount Athos which looms imposingly 30 km east over the sea. Sarti is a beautiful resort for relaxation, with good beaches to suit all tastes, with very fine sand and smooth water entry in the south, with evening bustle in the streets and tavernas in the north. There aren't many attractions in the area, other than other beaches in the neighborhood. You can also opt for a sea cruise.
